以利亞與以利亞的靈
- 瑪拉基書4章
- 萬軍之 耶和華說：「那日臨近，勢如燒著的火爐，凡狂傲的和行惡的必如碎稓，在那日必被燒盡，根本枝條一無存留。
- 但向你們敬畏 我名的人必有公義的日頭出現，其光線（原文是翅膀）有醫治之能，你們必出來跳躍如圈裡的肥犢。
- 你們必踐踏惡人；在 我所定的日子，他們必如灰塵在你們腳掌之下。這是萬軍之 耶和華說的。
- 你們當記念 我僕人摩西的律法，就是 我在何烈山為以色列眾人所吩咐他的律例典章。
- 看哪， 耶和華大而可畏之日未到以前， 我必差遣先知以利亞到你們那裡去。
- 他必使父親的心轉向兒女，兒女的心轉向父親，免得 我來咒詛遍地。」
對於我們所分享，要於將要來臨的大而可畏之日未到以前出現的先知以利亞，他提及到當自己接受 主耶穌呼召他為以利亞的時候，以利亞的靈便降在他的身上。昔日先知以利亞的靈可以這麼樣降在某人的身上嗎？這是甚麼道理？有人對此說甚為質疑，那就讓我們看看以下不同聖經版本中的路加福音1章17節吧：

從上表可以看見唯獨和合本把「SPIRIT」一字譯作「心志」，其他英文聖經都是使用「SPIRIT」一字的，意思就是「靈」。所以準確地去翻譯這節經文的話，路加福音1章17節的經文該是：
- 路加福音1章
- 他必有以利亞的靈（SPIRIT）與能力，行在 主的前面，叫為父的心轉向兒女，叫悖逆的人轉從義人的智慧，又為 主預備合用的百姓。
所以這樣看來，其實聖經也有談及施洗約翰當時也是擁有「以利亞的靈」的，真的嗎？讓我們再看看以下的經文：

從上表可以看見唯獨和合本把「REST/RESTS/RESTING」一字譯作「感動」，其他英文聖經都是使用「REST/RESTS/RESTING」一字的，意思就是「降在」。所以準確地去翻譯這節經文的話，列王紀下2章15節的經文該是：

- 住耶利哥的先知門徒從對面看見他，就說：「以利亞的靈降在（REST）以利沙了。」他們就來迎接他，在他面前俯伏於地，
所以，從以上兩個聖經的例子，可以知道今日這位於大災難以前出現的先知以利亞所提及到的「以利亞的靈降在他的身上」一事並非沒有聖經根據的，問題是這位八旬老翁究竟是「真」先知？還是「假」先知？真是「 神所呼召」的以利亞？還是「自我稱呼」的以利亞？禱告 主耶穌領受以下經文吧：
馬太福音7章
- 你們要防備假先知，他們到你們這裡來，外面披著羊皮，裡面卻是殘暴的狼。
- 憑著他們的果子，就可以認出他們來！荊棘上豈能摘葡萄呢？蒺藜裡豈能摘無花果呢？
- 這樣，凡好樹都結好果子，惟獨壞樹結壞果子。
- 好樹不能結壞果子；壞樹不能結好果子。
- 凡不結好果子的樹就砍下來，丟在火裡。
- 所以，憑著他們的果子，就可以認出他們來！
